Fridays on the Canal is Scottsville’s new favorite way to kick off the weekend! Held on the fourth Friday of each month from May through September, this free summer concert series brings our riverside community together with live music, food trucks, wine & beer, and local vendors.

Cody Purvis is a Virginia-raised country singer-songwriter known for his deep baritone voice and a “traditional-meets-modern” Nashville sound, often blending outlaw country influences with high-energy, arena-ready performances. Often nicknamed “Big Country” due to his 6’6″ stature, he has built a loyal following through hits like “Drinkin’ Terms” and performances on USA Network’s Real Country.
Cherry Red is a prominent Central Virginia-based Rolling Stones cover band, established to authentically replicate the gritty sound and energy of the iconic rock group. Formed by Stephen Pollock, the band is known for using specific, open tunings to mimic Keith Richards’ sound, featuring a lineup often including Nick Pollock, Max Hoecker, Doug Campbell, and Carl Moyer.
James Tamelcoff is a rising country music artist and singer-songwriter based in Central Virginia, known for his traditional sound influenced by legends like George Strait, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash.
The Drew Pace Band is a country music group led by singer-songwriter Drew Pace, a native of Scottsville, Virginia. The band is known for high-energy performances and is currently signed to the MC1 Nashville record label.

The gates open at 5pm, with music beginning at 6pm.
No! Fridays on the Canal is a free event. Enjoy live music and support local vendors without any admission cost.
No outside coolers, food, alcoholic beverages, or water bottles are allowed. To keep the event safe, secure, and fun for everyone, all food and drink must be purchased on site from our approved vendors. We’ll have plenty of options for wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and water available.
Exceptions will be made for medical needs — please check in at the info booth if applicable.
Yes! Each event features a rotating selection of food vendors, wineries, breweries, and cideries for purchase. Be sure to bring your appetite!
We love pets, but Fridays on the Canal is a no-pet event. For the safety and comfort of all attendees, we do not allow animals on site. Only ADA-compliant service animals are permitted, and they must remain under control at all times. Emotional support animals and pets do not qualify.
Yes! Seating is limited, so we encourage guests to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy the show comfortably.
Parking is available throughout town, including at the Pavilion, along Valley Street, and at the Boys & Girls Club. Follow event signage for the closest available spots.
Fridays on the Canal is rain or shine, but in the event of severe weather, we’ll post any changes on our social media pages.
