Fridays on the Canal is Scottsville’s new favorite way to kick off the weekend! Held on the fourth Friday of each month from May through September, this free summer concert series brings our riverside community together with live music, food trucks, wine & beer, and local vendors.

2025 Fridays on the Canal Event Schedule

May 23: James Tamelcoff Band

James Tamelcoff is a country artist from Charlottesville, Virginia, known for his high-energy shows and smooth, classic sound. He’s been touring the country since he was 16, headlining shows and sharing the stage with some of country music’s biggest names. Kick back, pull on your boots, and get ready for a fun night of country music you won’t want to miss!

June 27: The Morning Buzzards

The Morning Buzzards mix classic rock, country, blues, and Americana for a fun, easygoing Friday night vibe.

July 25: Tara Mills Band

Tara Mills is a singer/songwriter from Charlottesville, VA who plays original and traditional bluegrass, folk, americana, and roots music.

August 22: The Valley Street Drifters

A ramblin’ wreck of fun and dad jokes and Adam.

September 26: South Canal Street Band

South Canal Street Band is a 3 piece vocal musical group playing country rock, classic hits and soul.

📍 Where is Fridays on the Canal held?

Fridays on the Canal takes place at Canal Basin Square in the heart of Scottsville, VA located at 249 Main St, Scottsville, VA 24590.

⏰ What time does the event start?

The event kicks off at 5 PM on the fourth Friday of each month from May through September.

🎟️ Does it cost anything to attend?

No! Fridays on the Canal is a free event. Enjoy live music and support local vendors without any admission cost.

🚗 Where do I park?

Parking is available throughout town, including at the Pavilion, along Valley Street, and at the Boys & Girls Club. Follow event signage for the closest available spots.

🍔 Will there be food and drinks available?

Yes! Each event features a rotating selection of food vendors, wineries, breweries, and cideries for purchase. Be sure to bring your appetite!

🍷 Can I bring a cooler or outside drinks?

No outside coolers, alcoholic beverages, or water bottles are allowed. To keep the event safe, secure, and fun for everyone, all food and drink must be purchased on site from our approved vendors. We’ll have plenty of options for wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and water available.

Exceptions will be made for medical needs — please check in at the info booth if applicable.

🐶 Is the event pet-friendly?

We love pets, but Fridays on the Canal is a no-pet event. For the safety and comfort of all attendees, we do not allow animals on site. Only ADA-compliant service animals are permitted, and they must remain under control at all times. Emotional support animals and pets do not qualify.

💺 Should I bring my own chairs or blankets?

Yes! Seating is limited, so we encourage guests to bring their own chairs or blankets to enjoy the show comfortably.

🌦️ What happens if it rains?

Fridays on the Canal is rain or shine, but in the event of severe weather, we’ll post any changes on our social media pages.
